@Caution Not sure if I understand your question...but my summary would be:
Jesse remains the editor and publisher of CanadaLand. Some folks view some of his positions and activities since Oct 7 as offensive and anti-Palestinian/pro-Zionist. Folks on Reddit and Twitter are angry about his recent potentially doxxing investigations into supposed sock puppet critic accounts. Jesse is preparing a podcast or article about this that will be released soon. I've found little discussion here on Masto.
@Caution Yeah. Pretty underwhelming.
I'm kinda disappointed in myself for letting myself get sucked into reading a bunch of related reddit threads that are basically full of BS and bile.
Glad I resisted the urge to comment over there at least!
I'm remaining a patron of Canadaland, for better or for worse. And am finally listening to Jesse's series on the rise of Antisemitism in Canada.
Find myself frustrated with it, too. But the alternative media landscape in Canada is so deserted.
@pkiff It really doesn’t help that he does - quite frankly - present as more than a bit of an asshole/jerk. But I tend towards that myself when I feel certain ways about things, and I can put up with it. The Zionism accusations are - IMO - more of an ongoing issue with the left’s willingness to embrace the idea that being in any way supportive of Judaism or acknowledging antisemitism is somehow a gesture of support towards either Israel or the concept of Zionism, which - speaking as an anti-Zionist Israeli - pisses me tf off on a number of levels. It’s the inverted but equivalent reaction to the absolute BS conflation of anti-Zionism/criticism of Israel being anti-semitism.
Both are founded on the same “split loyalties” argument made by every bigot to justify anti-Jewish, anti-Catholic, anti-immigrant and basically “anti-others” hatred for centuries.
