Anyone interested in a brutally honest review of the evening with #Nails, #Exodus, #Carcass and #Kreator ?

No?

Here's one anyhow.

A thread 🧵

1/4

First act: NAILS

I didn't know them, wiki says they play, Grindcore, powerviolence, crust punk hardcore punk and yeah, that fits.

It was 30 minutes straight forward intense metal with the singer occasionally shouting "Slayer" in between songs.
Although I am sure he shouted something else (slay it?), but my brain told me it was "Slayer" and I was ok with that.

I'd like to see them on a smaller stage in a club setting to really get the dense atmosphere their sound needs.

But they were alright, they nailed it.

The venue, by the way, sucks ass.

Second act: #Exodus

They had "We Will Rock You" as hype song, so they already won the evening.

Other than that, I was excited to see them back with their new-old shouter Rob Dukes because they released the best albums with him on the mic.

And Rob did not dissapoint, although, I have to say, Zetro has a bit more charisma. Dukes is as straight forward as it gets.

What was dissapointing though was the volume, which was surprisingly low. I didn't even need my ear plugs - which I forgot anywas.

But the atmosphere was good, 40+ yo Thomas decided it's a good idea to jump into the pit and run in circles. After approx 1,5 rounds I was exhausted.

Age, huh?

3/4

Third act: Carcass

All of a sudden a dude who looked like they just dragged him out of the next pub entered the stage.
Turns out that was Jeff Walker, lead vocalist of Carcass.

When Exodus was rather quiet, Carcass turned it up to 11. Boy, that was LOUD!

And #Carcass was groovy as fuck, I really enjoyed their set. In retrospect, I think they were my favourite of the evening.

Some folks in the audience decided to form a wall of death on their own, which of course didn't work because nobody gave them the signal. They looked like idiots. I was one of them.

Verdict: how can you not love Carcass?

4/4 Final act: #Kreator

Kreator kicked off their set with a video that was too much AI slop for me to fully enjoy. It would have been so much better if done with HI. Admittedly togehter with the song Eve of Destruction it did hype me up though.

Then the curtain fell and we could hear Ventor's drums and Mille's vocals. But barely anything else 🤔

Luckily they fixed that by the 4th song or so and the rest of the show was great. Kreator are a show band, it was almost like a theater production with so much going on on stage.

It was nice surprise that Britta Görtz performed Tränenpalast with them.

Verdict: Pleasure to Kill (back pain edition)

@derthomas What shirt were you wearing? And hats off to your courage to go into the pit. 🤘

@Dad_Wood the MHC shirt. And because of it I met a fellow member.

I actually got into many pits, but they were quite mild honestly.
