The vast majority of people are sheep with little to no interest in politics or the bigger problems other than their own. A large portion society votes for whoever they believe will give them an advantage over others, while many people believe that politics is like supporting a sport team, so they vote accordingly, no matter what their "team" does. I stopped being naive long time ago. People don't want to take responsibility over their actions
