New, from me: Hackers linked to Russia’s military intelligence units are using known flaws in older Internet routers to mass harvest authentication tokens from Microsoft Office users, security experts warned today. The spying campaign allowed state-backed Russian hackers to quietly siphon authentication tokens from users on more than 18,000 networks without deploying any malicious software or code.

@briankrebs
So how old are ”older internet routers” that we might need to consider replacing? Any brands to avoid?
@trumpresistance probably if it's more than 5 years old, it's time to replace. Believe it or not, over time many little improvements in hardware and software make them more useful and often faster (particularly w/ newer wifi standards). Also, newer mesh router systems pretty much take the work out of patching the firmware, etc.
@briankrebs
It's a 5 yo Linksys but with DD-WRT. Time to go shopping?
@trumpresistance probably, esp. if you mostly use the wifi
