When I teach data-driven decision making, my position is that it should strive a balance between valuing good quality numbers and not letting yourself be entirely driven by these numbers. However I have noticed that there's an exactly opposite position which is to throw numbers at everything without caring at all about accuracy, and that the people who hold this position are emboldened by synthetic text extruders (aka stochastic parrots aka LLMs)
