yahoo news | JUST IN: Pam Bondi Won’t Appear for Scheduled Epstein Deposition After DOJ Ouste...
Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi will not appear at the House Oversight Committee’s scheduled deposition on April 14 to answer questions about the Jeffrey Epstein files. The committee confirmed that Bondi, who was subpoenaed by name rather than by title, withdrew after her removal from the attorney‑general post last week. Committee spokesman told MeidasTouch’s Scott MacFarlane that the DOJ informed them of her inability to attend and that the committee will contact Bondi’s personal counsel to discuss rescheduling.
Republican Rep. Nancy Mace, a member of the Oversight Committee, warned that Bondi cannot evade accountability simply because she no longer holds office. In an X post, Mace emphasized that the subpoena was issued to Bondi personally, not to the office, and that the committee intends to pursue the deposition despite the former AG’s ouster. Bondi had faced intense scrutiny for her handling of the Epstein files during her tenure and previously clashed with lawmakers in a February Capitol Hill hearing, famously exclaiming, “The Dow is over 50,000 right now!”
Bondi was dismissed from the attorney‑general position, with her deputy Todd Blanche assuming the role in an acting capacity. President Donald Trump praised her on Truth Social, calling her a “Great American Patriot” and lauding a “massive crackdown in crime.” Bondi later said she is “thrilled” about an undisclosed private‑sector job she will be transitioning to. The story continues to develop.
