Max was Sargon's comic-relief sidekick in Golden Age stories, but apparently hasn't been seen since ("Scooby-Doo Team-Up" aside).
Pre-Crisis, Sargon moved to Earth-1 in 1950 (one of several heroes who quietly did so, vs. having doppelgangers). He also spent a brief period of time as a villain.
