@carolannie Swamp lanterns is a much better name than skunk cabbage. Do the flowers open out at all or is that their everyday appearance?
@Broadfork they're like Arum lilies, there is a spadix, like a stick, covered with little flowers, inside that big yellow spathe. Eventually the spathe dries up and the spadix is covered with reddish berries. Which are edible after careful cooking to eliminate the calcium oxalate.
