ADHO Deputy Conference Officer

One of ADHO’s most visible activities is its annual international Digital Humanities conference, usually held in July or August in venues around the world.

The Conference Officer and Deputy Conference Officer are responsible for developing, improving and maintaining the ADHO Conference Protocol and accompanying guidelines, and coordinating the annual conference. This position has a three-year term with the first year as Deputy Conference Officer (beginning immediately following the DH2026 Conference), and the second and third year as Conference Officer (after DH2027 through the end of DH2029).

ADHO Executive Board Deputy Secretary

The ADHO Secretary works closely with the EB, the Constituent Organization Board (COB) of Digital Humanities organisations, and occasionally with various officers of the Constituent Organizations. The Secretary organizes, records, and communicates ADHO governance meetings, documents, decisions, and action items. They also serve as record keepers, holders of institutional memory, and reference sources for ADHO policy, decisions, and custom. The Secretary is appointed by the COB and reports to the Executive Board (EB).

Appointment as Deputy Secretary is for one year from July 2026, after which the appointed officer becomes the Secretary.

ADHO Executive Board Chair-Elect

The ADHO Executive Board Chair oversees the EB in carrying out the vision and policies set by the COB. The Chair has ultimate responsibility for all ADHO organization operations. To do this, the EB Chair collaborates closely with the COB President and President-Elect and supports EB members in their work. The Chair sets the agenda and runs EB meetings and generally ensures that the work of ADHO gets done. The Chair is appointed by the COB and reports to the Executive Board (EB). The Chair-Elect works with the Chair to support the EB and to develop good working relationships with the COB President-Elect.

Appointment as Chair-Elect is for one year from July 2026, after which the appointed officer becomes the Chair.

ADHO Deputy Treasurer

The Treasurer is the financial manager for both ADHO and the ADHO Foundation (ADHO’s legal entity, based in the Netherlands), and is a member of the Executive Board. The Treasurer keeps track of and reports on the budget and advises the Executive and Constituent Organization Boards about financial decisions. The Deputy Treasurer advises and assists the Treasurer as needed, and may act on behalf of the Treasurer when they are unavailable. The Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer manage the financial assets of ADHO.

This post starts in July 2026, and the post-holder will move into the Treasurer post after one year as Deputy.
