I've had a weird issue with my Mac mini M4 since I got it a year or so ago.

Shortly after I start using it every session, the screen will go black for a couple seconds. Any audio playing through the monitor speakers goes silent briefly. Once it does it, it's normally good until I let it go back to sleep.

I'm using HDMI. I've replaced the cables and are using high-end ones. I've also replaced the monitor (a Samsung ultra wide and with another Samsung).

Is this typical? Or should I make an appt with the Genius Bar, with the idea something is awry with my Mac mini?

@AncTreat5358 That is weird. When there is a fair amount of static electricity and I touch the grounding screw on a light switch, my M2’s screen will blank for a second or two and come back. I have also had the occasional issue where after sleep the only way to get the video back is to unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in. I think it has something to do with detecting the monitor.

@HenryT Ah, that's a good point. I do have low humidity (my kitty and I regularly zap ourselves when we touch each other). Maybe getting a humidifier will make a difference.

However, it did happen even during the summer, when the relative humidity was in the 40s right after I bought the Mac mini.

Glad to hear it's not how it's supposed to work. Maybe it'd be a good peace of mind to schedule with the Genius Bar, since I'm paying for AppleCare One.

I appreciate your thoughts, Henry!

@AncTreat5358 Getting the genius bar’s help would be a good idea. Maybe record a video of it happening to show them. I also have a Samsung monitor.

@HenryT Great idea! Thank you.

And good to know you didn't have the same issue with a Samsung monitor.
