Hey, #LineageOS and other #CustomROM users. Once in a while I find an app that that insists I have #Chrome installed. I would rather have a molar pulled sans anesthetic than install Chrome on my phone. Is there some app or extension or whatever that can system-wide fool any code into thinking Chrome is installed and then route any links to my actual browser. (I use #Vivaldi, but don't mind #Chromium or #LibreWolf.)
I tried installing Opera, hoping the app would open that instead, but I got the same error.

@RachelThornSub unfortunately, I think there's actual code based reasons why since apps require Chrome, so trying to fool apps that you've got Chrome when you haven't won't work. Even vanadium on graphene OS won't cut it.

I've come up with 2 strategies. Having chrome deactivated on graphene then just activating it if needed, and keeping an old pixel 4 on standard android in a draw for cases where I have to use chrome.

@Haikyoneko
I see. When you say "deactivated," do you mean it's installed but not set to the default browser, or is there something else involved?
@RachelThornSub It's almost like uninstalled. It can't open or do anything. It doesn't appear in the app draw. It's the closest you can get to uninstalling it.
@Haikyoneko Hm. I wonder if that can be done on Lineage OS, too. Anyway, for my immediate purposes, I bit the bullet and installed Chrome, did the thing I needed to do in my app (log in), then immediately deleted Chrome. Not an ideal solution, but hopefully no damage done.
@RachelThornSub chromium or brave could do the trick.
@Kurt
Thank you. Brave's CEO actively opposes rights for queers, so I won't use that. Weirdly, I am having trouble finding Chromium in Aurora Store, F-Droid, and Neo Store. I found an app called Chromium Browser on Aurora Store, but the logo is wrong and they brag about their "integrated AI suite," so I'm pretty sure it's not Chromium.
@RachelThornSub i think, https://github.com/GrapheneOS/Vanadium is a trustworthy chromium derivative
