@aly "Predator Free 2050" is controversial with the usual suspects, so it's promoting the idea. Technically it's government policy so DOC can promote it, but since we only have 5-ish opposition parties right now (h/t #TheSpinoff) DOC is very quietly reminding voters that if they want action they need to, you know, vote.
And I suspect the last line being applicable beyond carnivorous animals isn't an accident.
@moz ah OK. Well, they already have me on board, though my biggest predator is by far "pet" cats roaming at night.
@aly I think I've trained most of my neighbours not to do that. By running a "hotel catifornia" in my chicken run :)
The chooks have learned not to go into the cage trap but cats don't get that opportunity, it's a one and done for them.
I have way more wildlife in my garden than the average for the area despite the best efforts of the chickens. There's noticeably fewer skinks in the chicken run than outside though.
@moz I am overrun with the Aussie plague skinks. They're kinda cute but I wish I had native ones instead.
