got gifted some fruit. shop said they are fresh medjool dates. highly doubt that.
does anyone know what they are and is someone willing to share their knowledge?

texture and taste remind me vaguely of lychees. pits seem familiar but cannot place them.

thank you so much.
this seems to indeed be it.

dont know if the ones i got were a smaller variety or not really ripe. they had a lot less flesh then the ones pictured and were smaller than a (big) fig. and had only two parts.
very interesting.
now i would like to know why they were sold as fresh dates 😅
