@penguin42 @etchedpixels it's modbus over tcp, and fairly well documented - I played a bit before moving to Home Assistant. GivEnergy supported the development of giv_tcp.
So far as I'm concerned, they were on the "good" end of the scale. In contrast with British Gas's Hive system, for example, where the only way to get any measure of local control is to throw away their hub and put your own Zigbee system in place.
