Alun Jones@penguin42 @etchedpixels it's modbus over tcp, and fairly well documented - I played a bit before moving to Home Assistant. GivEnergy supported the development of giv_tcp.
So far as I'm concerned, they were on the "good" end of the scale. In contrast with British Gas's Hive system, for example, where the only way to get any measure of local control is to throw away their hub and put your own Zigbee system in place.
@penguin42 @etchedpixels just to add - I'm not here defending my choice as a buyer - we bought from e-on and didn't know anything about GivEnergy until after installation. I should have been more proactive in looking into telemetry support, but price was our main consideration at the time.
@pengfold @etchedpixels I've not bought anything (yet) - I'd found that when I was looking a few years ago that they had published that source and thought it seemed good.
