Daniel LakelandWell, for those of you rooting for #guix on my little laptop, you'll be happy to know that by killing of xorg-server and running pull in the terminal it was able to complete. By looking carefully at guix weather I was able to determine which things didn't have substitutes and remove them from consideration... so it also managed to do a system reconfigure on the little 4G laptop and now I have 4G of zram as well. This little 2018 era Celeron with 4G of RAM is very usable for general purpose stuff
simendsjo@dlakelan Nice! I used to run system reconfigure on a 1G VPS, but it's been ages since that worked. Guix deploy to the rescue! To future proof your machine, you can configure it so you can deploy from a more powerful one.
yes, I have a little VM that I deploy my router with (the router is around 1G VM), so I can definitely do that. I kinda liked the idea of having this machine be able to reconfigure even on a trip away from home though, since it's a laptop.
