Just ordered Ashley Fairbank's @ziibiing.com book Boarding Schools and the Indigenous Story (Race to the Truth) for my 13yo & 15yo gkids. Gotta keep filling the colonial holes in their educations!

For nearly 100 years, the U.S. Government used boarding schools to remove Indigenous kids from their families and erase their traditions—to attempt to replace their culture with white, European cultures.

@Yehuda Well, this is certainly interestingly coincidental for me. I just recently finished reading the 1930 novel Cimarron, in which the main character, who spends most of the novel attempting to bend the world to her view of what should be, several times evaluates the worth of young Osage women by whether they had been to "The Indian School". I had noted it in my mind to find out more about these schools.
