There used to be journalists who grabbed 8mm cameras and cheap field mics and tape recorders, whatever they could afford to go out and capture stories. They called it independent journalism. That's what I want to see online - real people informing you of what's really going on.
I don't want to be spammed by newsletters, or give ad revenue to data harvesters infiltrating my browser. I don't want to give money I don't have to faceless laptop workers regurgitating the approved headlines from the Associated Press. I don't want to pay clickbait influencers peddling knee-jerk reactions to nonsense.
The endless shit all over the feeds aren't news. They're entertainment. They're electronic slot machines, preying on addicts to keep clicking and scrolling. I want real news by real people on the real ground.
