Found this Frenchman advocating FreeCAD a lot. I guess it's finally time to put up with it and stop using Inventor. Apparently it also arrived in the 21st century and doesn't shit itself anymore when started under Wayland in version 1.1. Good start.

I hate constructing in CAD though. I hate everything about it. 🤮

@G33KatWork I've been wanting to switch away from Fusion far many years now. But every time I try, the alternatives are so different that I can't get anything done.

Is FreeCAD cool? I think last time, I tried OpenSCAD.

@larsborn It's weird in its own ways. As all CAD programs are. I haven't drawn super complicated stuff in FreeCAD yet and I am just missing experience how to achieve certain things with the different tools you get. I have that with Fusion or Inventor and getting that experience is the annoying part.
But FreeCAD itself is pretty close to Solidworks and Fusion/Inventor I would say.
