the solution set that works here is:
> very old, very robust but compact vac in a floor-level cupboard
> permanently connected, press one switch and go
> small floor-space, long enough hose to reach most of it without getting vac out of cupboard [#tinyHouse 👍👍👍*]
> switch, suck, bundle hose back in cupboard, done.

guaranteed much less fuss than a dustpan.

the latter lives on the deck outside and only comes in when the garden has got itself indoors in extraordinary quantities
