Bastian AllgeierOur merchant of record for @getkirby Paddle had a fantastic support team for years. Then they switched to a chat bot that served as a firewall before you could still reach them. Then it got significantly harder each time to get through that firewall. The AI chat bot was absolutely horrible and zero useful. Now they've completely deactivated the chat bot and you can only reach them by email. It's incredible how much you can fuck up your professional support in a matter of months.
@getkirby I keep whining about this because it actually hurts to see this with a product that you rely on when the support has been great once. It really feels like being robbed from a great experience.

@stairjoke @getkirby There are still only a handful of merchant of record services and the alternatives aren't ideal either. Stripe is supposed to launch something like that, but it's in beta for a while now afaik.

Nico ෴.@stairjoke @bastianallgeier @getkirby will have a looknagain but in the past often the problem had been that these are payment providers but they don’t act as merchant of record (and it’s not quite feasible for us to file international taxes ourselves in a dozen of countries).
