@wulfric I needed this after checking the news for ten seconds. Thank you for this.
@Texan_Reverend @wulfric Serious question: I know the logo is just to add to the beaver emojis, but do you like Buc-ee's? I've tried to figure out the appeal for years, since all my friends love it. ❤️🦫❤️

@kimlockhartga @wulfric Buc-ee's is a genuinely good fuel station and general store combo - much better than the typical convenience store/gas station. This is especially true for people travelling longer distances.

They actively seek the role of being a bathroom stopover, so their bathrooms a incredibly clean and always stocked. The toilet stalls are each built like rooms with tiled walls between them and full-height doors. Plus, there are 10-20+ stalls per side, depending on the location.

@kimlockhartga There are generally lots of fuel pumps, so there's rarely a long wait to fill up.

They prepare lots of different good-quality food on-site: BBQ, baked goods, jerky, burritos, fudge, sandwiches, etc. The fudge and BBQ stations are even located in the middle of many locations, and surrounded by glass, so that folks can watch it being prepared. They're confident in the quality of what they make.

The typical slushie, coffee, and soda machines are also all present but dialed to 11.

@kimlockhartga On top of all that, there's a hybrid of a general store selling coolers, automotive supplies, and apparel combined with a kitschy country store selling mugs, coffee table books, knick-knacks, and so on.

Buc-ee's is A Lot™, and their fans can be, too. That said, the reputation is earned. If you need some fuel, some food, or just somewhere to pee while you're driving, you'd be hard pressed to find a better pit stop.

@kimlockhartga PS: it doesn't hurt that they capitalized on people loving goofy mascots.
@kimlockhartga PPS: to actually answer your question - yes, I do like Buc-ee's. If I have the option of stopping there instead of a regular gas station, I'll fill up a little early or hold it a little longer to make it work out.
@Texan_Reverend I have not found anything there that I wanted. Everyone told me I would love it. I was excited. Supposed to be like the Disneyland of gas stations. Finally went. And. Nothing. Seems that at least 95% of the folks who go there are thrilled. So, it's me. I'm Celiac and I hate BBQ, so that's probably mostly why. Maybe it was the Georgia one, but the general merchandise was like Cracker Barrel gift shop kind of stuff, like a picture of a rooster for a country kitchen, or a throw pillow for a cabin at the lake.

@kimlockhartga Yeah, that's the kitschy country store stuff I mentioned. As a vegetarian, there aren't a ton of great food options among what they prepare, but I can get by.

I feel like lots of people set the expectations too high. If you go there for a gas station with lots of pumps, super clean bathrooms, and a decent selection of snacks, you shouldn't be disappointed. If you go expecting it to be life changing...probably not so much.

@kimlockhartga But I really feel that it's important to approach it from the perspective of, "This is a better gas station." That's achievable for pretty much everyone who enters. Many folks will have a great time and say that, "just a gas station" undersells it. Great! Better to have a pleasant surprise.
