Price of a cup of coffee, in some cases, approaching my cost per pound of green coffee (did not buy coffee, lol...) #coffee #inflation
@ai6yr true dat. What's your hookup for green beans? I do Sweet Maria's from the bay area as I couldn't find anything down here. On a side note, nothing has taught me that I still need to learn a fricking ton like roasting coffee at home. I do love it though.
@Floppyhat Sweet Maria, also tried Roastmasters, but I tend to get the random sampler from Sweet Maria to see what shows up!
@ai6yr nice. I can't check out for less than a hundred bucks. If it says 'good for espresso' I have to try it
@Floppyhat My roasting consistency/skill is not quite there to know what is good because of the bean vs. my roast, lol. That said, I definitely notice the amount of caffeine vs. one bean versus another, at the same roast level...
@ai6yr huh. I notice the bitterness, smokiness, and sometimes the absence of richness when I forget and let them roast too long. Never though have I been able to distinguish between spicy loam and notes of caramelized pomegranate.
@Floppyhat Oh, THAT I certainly notice now. Commercially roasted beans, esp. dark, are just smoky and no flavor!
@Floppyhat Also, after figuring out how to roast coffee, realize a bunch of coffee beans that the spouse had once bought (clearance), which were horrible, had been under roasted... not even first crack. Which is why they tasted so bad. I could have fixed those beans if I had known that.
