I'm skeptical of environmental messaging that favours slower trains without consideration for aviation. The electric aircraft that can fly between Great Lakes and St. Lawrence destinations currently seat, like, 8 people. Anything else is fossil fuels, exclusively.

This region has /abundant/ hydroelectric generation. Trains run primarily during daytime. It's windy af. We export nuclear expertise.

I'm all for conservation, but let's not be penny wise and pound foolish.

I'm still not over this. Feels like last week that Pierre Poilievre started campaigning against HSR and this week we have "environmentalist" critiques of HSR? Lazy psyop.

Combine HSR with green energy rollout for a cheat code to shrink the liability of our spread-out population. What are we even doing?

At least go for the environmental destruction and the damage to migratory critter routes.
