Donegal in Ireland is maybe closer to Newfoundland than to Greece.

Check a globe. Canada isn't as far away as it looks. Greenland used to be in the EU and Iceland might join.
Vikings probably visited.

@maya_b @raymaccarthy @dyckron it hasn’t been! I just took a course on maritime navigation. Still used and useful.

There are other projections used but haven’t really caught on. Today there are two that seem to be common, even as most countries have moved to electronic charts and are slowly deprecating printed ones.
