i was suspicious of the artemis.cdnspace.ca mission tracker adding 5-10 features per day. the entire project had some serious LLM smell to it. i asked the maintainer about an AI disclosure statement, and got no response.

so i decided to look at the source tree, and of course, there's a Claude.md front and centre.

i really, truly, hate that we're at a place where (a) every project now has to be checked for code diarrhea before use, and (b) maintainers won't transparently acknowledge what was used to generate the code.

@vga256 okay but consider: does it matter that much, for this kind of thing? if you're just throwing together something that has very temporary relevance and will be thrown away after, is ultimately not important, has no commercial intentions, and more or less exists for the fun of it. I'd say this is one of the most excusable cases of using tools like that, compared to all the places it's been forced into; it's just somebody having a fun project... yea the lack of disclosure is iffy, but eh. I'm much much less bothered by an individual doing this for a side project than literally any of the other times I've encountered LLMs lately.
@vga256 There are so many questions relating to Chad right now I’m amazed he’s showing up publicly for this (of all things).
@vga256 Sad isn’t it. The RSS service I’ve used for 15 years has just done the same. A sudden diarrhoea of new features all of which have claude as one of the contributors on github. I’ve just cancelled my subscription and started moving everything across.
@kickingk super frustrating. i think what i resent the most is that i've become suspicious, and so far, my suspicions have been 100% right. that's a skill i don't want
@vga256 Completely agree. I hate the fact that everytime I read/see/watch something on the web my first instinct is to run it through my ai-bullshit-detection-filter first. It’s draining being skeptical all the time.
