Meta to Smart Glasses Owners: Stop Hitting Yourself - Lemmy.World

After reading this article I was super convinced and decided to click that “See Ray-Ban Meta at Amazon” at the end of it to make a purchase ;)

So basically there’s people who get paid to sit there and watch (and annotate) content which in many cases would be illegal if shared anywhere else online. There’s something twisted about this reality.

I mean… It aligns with everything else, right? Nearly nothing makes sense in this timeline. It’s why people watch cat and dog videos. “It’s the only fucking media that I can view without raising the odds of killing myself!” (I’m not suicidal, don’t worry) But seriously, all of this easy to comprehend science and philosophy, at our fingertips and people just decide to follow bullshit?!?

I’ve had arguments with people, including a family member, “oh so you think you know more than ALMOST EVERY SINGLE EXPERT IN THEIR FIELD?!?” Then they reply with “yeah but there was this one study, by Dr. ____, that says otherwise.” Look up Dr. Blank. Look at their reputation, assuming it’s not a fake person, and fake article. I can’t believe how many people will click links on advertising, as if they’re going to give you REAL scientific proof that this widget or blend of seasonings will change your life.

The reality that we live in is absolutely fucking bonkers. So yeah, this kinda tracks honestly.
