It's artificial but it's not intelligence. Let's call it machine learning.

Analytical machine learning is an excellent technology for identifying patterns in data.

Generative machine learning is a Venture Capital-fuelled dumpster fire that will crash as soon as people have to pay the actual non-subsidised price for it.

@mrundkvist
Honestly, that might be one of my biggest gripes. "Artificial intelligence" was already an established term that they decided to appropriate for their advanced chatbot. It's all marketing bullshit.

It's analogous to how we all knew hoverboards from Back to the Future, and then some marketing asshat decided Segways without the stick should get that name.

It's not that the product is useless, it's that it can never live up to its hype, that marketing was a lie from the get-go.

@cimeryd @mrundkvist Artificial intelligence has always been a marketing term with no real substance, but it has been captured in this current wave, meaning everything and nothing at the same time, perfect for moving-the-goalposts type shenanigans.

It is portrayed as something concrete, while still being slippery to avoid criticism.

”You can’t criticise AI, it does these good things” is the standard weasel argument.
