Mein Familienumzug auf #GrapheneOS scheitert im Moment an der Abhängigkeit von Google Updates. Man muss schon mindestens ein 8er kaufen, um die 7 Jahre Updates zu erhalten. Davon sind jetzt noch 5 übrig, läuft also bis 2031. #eOS und #iodeOS haben diese Limitierung wegen #LineageOS nicht, da läuft die jeweils aktuellste Version sogar noch auf einem Pixel 3XL. Für ein gebrauchtes 8er mit Garantie legt man noch knapp 400€ hin. Für ein Lerngerät ganz schön viel. Für das Kind reichen /e/OS und iodeOS eigentlich völlig aus. Kein Google, keine Bezahlfunktion, kein Tracking.

/e/OS is not private or secure. It ships with microG, which contains non-free Google privileged binaries that cannot be removed. It also has outdated fake security patches and TTS functions, which can be uploaded to OpenAI with identity. This is not trustworthy.

LineageOS is more private and secure than them, but far away from iPhone or Pixel with GrapheneOS.

@a53bdb So you would use pure LineageOS over the others? GrapheneOS is not an option for me, because it needs a rather current Pixel phone, which costs even used around 400€.

@m1rk0 LineageOS without anything about Google is more private than stock OS, but it’s less secure than stock OS. I suggest using LineageOS only after the stock operating system stops receiving updates.
