Re-watching Andor, S1E07 🧵1/5

Aftermath of the Aldhani heist, this episode is a lot of set-up for the next storyline: Mon Mothma setting up her money scheme; Cassian Andor preparing to disappear; Dedra Meero taking initiative in her investigation of stolen parts; and Syril Karn getting on the bottom rung of the Imperial career ladder.

As in S1E05, so many conversations that revealed so much.

Golden quote:
"I show you the stone in my hand; you miss the knife at your throat."

Noticed:
* Syril's toy troopers on the shelf in his bedroom; he's a model geek.
* Syril's cereal boxes. Why do they look like that?
* Maarva watering her houseplants as she commits her life to the rebellion. Cassian does this in the S2E12 finale's closing montage.
* All of Dedra, Luthen, Mon, and Maarva realizing that the Empire's P.O.R.D. will strengthen the rebellion's cause.
* Cinta's scene of leaving Aldhani seems mostly superfluous.

Re-loved:
* Dedra's badass boots.
* As Col. Yularen updates ISB supervisors of the Empire's response to the heist, the camera omits his face, instead showing those of the supervisors, emphasizing the emotions of the rank-and-file and the impersonality of the hierarchy.
* "If you're not willing to risk your conscience then surrender and be done with it."
* Portrayal of imperfect NPCs of the Empire's bureaucracies, e.g. Attendant Felzonis. He is cute in his vulnerability.

Re-loved:
* In the social at Mon's residence, the continuously changing framing and camera motion matching the circuitous dialog between Mon and Tay.
* "I show you the stone in my hand; you miss the knife at your throat."
* Perrin's careful eye on Tay, even when he is out-of-focus in the background. In a writer's head-cannon that was dropped from the script, he reported on Mon's programs to the Empire as a distraction from what they belied. https://www.reddit.com/r/andor/comments/1kzerhq/never_saw_it_discussed_here_perrin_had_a_cut/

Re-loved:
* Although somewhat argumentative, Bix actually cares about Cassian. She is discrete about all she knows and she knows a lot; it's all to assist Cassian. She is Luthen's Kleya and Vel's Cinta.
* Cassian's flashbacks to Clem 😩
* Partagaz dealing with his subordinates: love the way he talks - his words, his tone, and his accent. "Thesis, please?" ... "Watch your back."
* Our pre-mature cheering for Dedra's win.
* We want some greenie-green ones, too, Keith.
