The Republicans can say "Hegseth gave the President bad advice". As they have been doing and also let's face it he HAS been giving him bad advice. And Trump's looking to escape blame himself, he even said at one point "this was your idea Pete" or something to that effect.

I think this has possibilities. My Congressman's staffer I spooled this out to said "you know, that's a good idea. I'll share it with him."

@jawarajabbi The republicans could say that about Hegseth. They could say and do a lot of things, but they will not.
It's fine to try to convince republican congresspeople to stand up to trump. There's nothing to lose by trying.
Even if there a simple minority in the House that will impeach him, just try getting the 67 votes needed for the Senate to remove him.
I look at their past behavior, and I know that they will follow trump down to the lowest level of hell.
