Stalking has expanded massively partly as it has become more clearly defined & recognised alongside some behaviours previously regarded as other crimes (or lesser issues).

However, equally there is also an absolute rise in stalking (facilitated in part by technology).... suggesting that there is more willingness to invade & violate people's personal space & lives.

The next Q. is why is stalking on the increase?

And here the answers may not be so clear.

perhaps calling a person showing online interest in someone a "follower" has a normalisation aspect when it comes to physical following, along with a noted rise in dehumanising porn & quite harmfull ideas being promoted as masculin, sadly sick behaviour tends to make people feel special about themselves ...

Hmmm.... interesting point; not sure I completely agree, but equally not without merit either
