I've not bought a VoIP number for ages and almost every provider now seems to need Photo ID, a recent utility bill and, in some instances, company registration documents and an app / webcam proof of being a person check before you can buy a number. Wow. Mad.
Here's just one step of Twilio's UK "regulatory bundle" requirements before I can buy a geographic number.
And for Telxi. Prior to this request I had to upload my passport and do a lifeness check with a webcam!
abeorch@CenturyAvocado This has not been my experience generally. however for some geographic numbers in some jurisdictios the verification requirements do seem more complex.
