And here I am thinking we need to bully the remaining stochastic parrot bootlickers on this here fediverse even harder.

More seriously.

Comparing fediverse users being "mean" to LLM fanatics to the racism (both covert and overt) that has significantly discouraged the formation of communities of Black people on the fediverse is quite frankly disgusting.

It betrays a lack of understanding of what racism is, which is *structural* discrimination of a group of people based on race. LLM fanatics are not a group that is systematically discriminated against (quite the opposite right now in fact) and to suggest that is the case is absurd.

re: journalists on fediverse.

I'll say this, Ten Forward has previously defederated two instances of journalists.

First was journa.host which was initially defderated because one of their users writing a article about a fediverse user without their consent and also doing block evasion in the process. I have since removed the block and as far as I know the issue hasn't happened again.

Second was social.bbc which remains defederated due to a institutional transphobia problem that is still present.

I don't have a problem with journalists being on the fediverse but that doesn't mean I will give them a free pass on things that violate my own morals/ethics/policies and those of Ten Forward's.

Once again, this is about freedom of association, I or Ten Forward do not have to associate with any given journalist just because they are journalist.

All this reminds me of a song by the band Dead Pioneers called "The Caucasity" and oh goddess, the caucasity of all this.

@packetcat almost as if two things can be true at the same time:

good journalism: responsibility to truth etc., good thing, please more.

administrating a fedi instance: responsibility to act in your users’ best interests and for their safety. good thing, please more.

@packetcat im always disappointed by how many people are motivated by "well who am I allowed to abuse?" as if they have no other interests in life. these people desperately want to be "real" victims so that they can justify their own hate.
@packetcat LLM users are in fact supportive (maybe tacitly, but nonetheless) of the supremacist ideologies that gave rise to scientific racism in the 20th century, as this excellent article elaborates: https://aworkinglibrary.com/writing/toolmen
Toolmen

Even the best weapon is an unhappy tool.

@packetcat And, not for nothing, someone can avoid whatever discrimination they think they're experiencing by opting to stop being an LLM fanatic.

(Not trying to educate you, just one of my own peeves in this discourse.)
