I wonder if anyone's made a GUI for the rc2014. I'm guessing we'd need a graphics card first.

@socketwench There's several graphics cards available already, such as the TMSEMU (or genuine TMS9918A cards for the RC2014).

But it begs the question - what do you want the GUI for? A lot of the CPU is going to be deciding what needs to go where, and that won't leave much left for whatever the purpose of the GUI is serving. It would certainly be a cool thing to have, but really not sure how practical it would be.

@rc2014 I keep thinking about getting the TMSEMU, but other projects always eat up my budget.

Probably not practical at all! A fun goal to work toward, though...

@socketwench There's been a couple of Z80 based GUI operating systems for other machines. So it is possible. But then you get on to the issue of everybody needing the same spec of hardware.

An ASCII based GUI is not going to be as pretty, but it would work on pretty much any setup.

@rc2014 Not a bad initial idea. I'm not really intending for it to be practical or useful if I were to write it. It'd be more a learning project.
@socketwench "I'm not really intending for it to be practical or useful..." That's the #RC2014 philosophy right there! 😃
