*Gears* aka UBC Engineers did their usual hack, secretly placing a stripped down VW Beetle where it doesn’t belong.

This time though, they thought to be more innovative and eschewed favourites like hanging the car under the Lions Gate Bridge or putting it up on the bridge’s cross supports.

Unfortunately, it sounds like they made choice that’s not only a public safety concern due to its precarious placement on a popular climbing rock face, it disrespects Squamish land.

‘The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) said in an email statement that the car is located on a sacred site within the nation's territory.

“Placing or hanging anything upon it is extremely disrespectful both to our People, and to our land,” said the statement.

“We sincerely hope that in the future, people treat it with the respect it deserves.”’
