Trying to become more unrelatable with this punchline.
am i right?
@ZachWeinersmith ermmm yeah! Totally! Hahahaha....ha ha
@ZachWeinersmith I'm going to say you succeeded pretty spectacularly there!
@ZachWeinersmith Do we need an "explainzach", like there is an "explainxkcd", now?

@ZachWeinersmith well you're _succeeding_ at any rate

Fairly sure that's quantum mechanics --- something to do with superposition? --- but familiarity with syntax gives me absolutely no insights into what you're actually saying :

@ZachWeinersmith I don't know what the (q)bit is, but it does seem like it must be obscure.
@ZachWeinersmith probabilities add to one, so it's fine, I guess.

@ZachWeinersmith

Cool punchline. I am going to bed so that is my excuse to figure out what the buildup was. ;)

@ZachWeinersmith You're probably gonna get a lot of this, but convention here is to include ALT text for images to maximize accessibility. 🙂
@jwisser @ZachWeinersmith which is ironic for such an inaccessible string of characters!
It will probably be hard to type them all in :D
@ZachWeinersmith it's been years since I first failed to understand Dirac notation, and I'm glad to say I continue to do so.

@ZachWeinersmith Why is the e^i\gamma outside of the bracket? Of course you can substitute, but I thought having one angle for the \ket{0} and another angle for the \ket{1} is easier?

Then again, I have mostly no idea what I'm writing about...

@ligasser @ZachWeinersmith it's breaking it down in terms of the relative phase (which is relevant to expectation values of observables) and the overall phase (which is not, unless there's more to this state).
@ZachWeinersmith You’ve definitely put your spin on it.
@ZachWeinersmith It seems perfectly relatable to me, though I’m not sure why you've included an overall phase.
