@jerzone Huh. Never knew about that, but then I was still using a walkman type device in those days. I did have the gizmo shaped like a cassette cartridge with a wire and headphone jack for use to convert your walkman to send music to your car's cassette player.
@bosquebill I'd use it on cross country trips, but near any sizable city it was too much of a pain trying to find a usable frequency. Cassette converter much better quality if the car had a player.
@jerzone Yeah, that's probably it. I was in the SF Bay Area in that era which would mean no available frequencies.

I had one of these - maybe still do with my box of iPod accessories. The audio-file-based frequency selection UI was a pain to use at the best of times.

[scroll to frequency, click play, dial radio to frequency, wait that's not it, recheck screen, dial ... nope, too noisy, pick new frequence, repeat]
