I'm rebuilding the Pixelfed mobile app from scratch to leverage a cleaner and more maintainable UI, using native UI components on Android and iOS.

This isn't only about performance, making the app less complex and easier to use and with improved caching and backend error handling will drastically improve the UX.

Not to mention the ability to join or login with a single tap using Sign in with Apple or Google 🚀

You're going to love it ✨

@dansup are you adding a _swipe to next picture_ in full screen view?

_pretty please_?

@dansup that sounds great. Logging in with my existing account within the app is right now not possible because granting the necessary access via the automated browser redirection is resulting in an error regarding token handling. This is the case with certain stock browsers of a common custom "ROM" build on the recent AOSP. So I would really much appreciate if the testing of such essential functions would also include diverse mobile open source environments. Thanks and keep up the great work.
@dansup I've been meaning to give Pixelfed a try. Perhaps once these changes are live, I'll dive in. Thanks for your efforts!
@dansup cool, all the best! Would love a write up both on why and how if you ever find the time
@dansup What framework / language is used?
@dansup I don't use it, but thank you!
@dansup please reconsider the Google/Apple sign-in. It results in a vendor lock-in and gives these companies the power over the user's account. The consequence is that users lose all access when Big Corp (or their jurisdiction) arbitrarily decides to lock their account. There are countless examples of Google, Apple, and the Trump administration doing this and effectively locking people out of their digital lives.
@jomo I think you have this confused with OAuth, you will use your own email for this, and can bypass with an email/password
@dansup please include multiple account support 🙏🫂
@dansup that’s brilliant! Any chance we could contribute in the actual development? Maybe work on a few git issues?
@dansup Nice. But please leave out the login with Apple or Google. We need to get rid of them.
@dansup WAIT! STOP! Come on dude, can you PLEASE make an easy sign in? Take a look at MeWe. MeWe has *Magic-Link* that allows you to log in to your account without remembering or typing a password. Instead, MeWe sends a unique, one-time-use link directly to your registered email address. OR… use Damus’s Nostr Protocol. Just a username and that’s it. Come on dude, please try those app and implement it into your app. Easy access and no data being collected.
