I watched this video the other day and I think the reason you can only do so much about this sort of thing is because they actually *do* already know better. It's not a whoopsie daisy, it's on purpose.

They're not being tricked, they're not being manipulated, that they just don't know any better - no, these are just miserable, awful, toxic people.

The sort of person who participates in smear campaigns, most of the time they're not doing anything with their lives, and they desperately need somebody else that they can feel better than.

And they'll just believe whatever it is they want, so long as they get to put someone else in their place.

@EatingHawaiianP1zza I don't know who Chappell Roan is so that context is unknown to me but yeah. A lot of people just need someone to punch down at to feel anything. They can't and won't be arse to actually fact check if the person they're tearing down actually did anything wrong at all they just need a target. It sucks and its one of the aspects of the internet that makes me hate it. It just fuels the worst "coping" behavior of sorts in people sometimes.
