I can’t remember how I found out about this book but I’m just reading “The serviceberry” by Robin Wall Kimmerer and it’s such a beautiful, inspiring work about the gift economy and living in community, about finding alternatives to systems of financial gain and about resisting oppressive systems brought on by colonialism 🤍✊
It’s so good and soothing, I would totally recommend this to anyone who just feels despair looking at the world right now.

@alicetragedy good to hear it’s good, it’s been on my list for a while. some of their previous works are wonderful too, like braiding sweetgrass
@fox ohh, so cool! I actually thought of you and @pat while reading (for the obvious reason that you are both excellent community-minded individuals who recognise the importance of thinking about and questioning the systems we live in). The style is definitely something different from what I’m used to reading, it’s very reflective so it might not be for everyone — but I have a feeling that might also be their usual writing style and not specific to this book.
@alicetragedy @fox appreciate both the kind words ❤️ and the recommendation. I've seen a few folks speak highly of Braiding Sweetgrass, so I shall try to get to both books.
