I’m in a bad fibromyalgia crash, but am dressed and able to gently walk around, and it’s a GORGEOUS day so we went to drop some things off at the local charity, then got some coffee.

It’s only taken half a century but I’m finally feeling in my bones the link between “gee I hate things being so cluttered,” and “gee that looks fun, surely I can fit one more hobby/item/appliance into our lives.” These days I’m acquiring much less, and when it does feel right to add something, I’m eyeballing its general footprint and then trying to get rid of at least a couple things that match it.

Last night I pulled a pile of coats out of the closet to go through them, and Cal immediately found his nap spot on them and began putting biscuit holes in my rain poncho.

Stuff In = Stuff Out is definitely a milestone!

Over the last couple of years, I've had to do some dunging out to make room to get work done on the house.

Exported probably four cubic yards of Stuff (only a small bag went into the landfill—go me!).

The seriously depressing part: to look at my house—You can't tell! No visible difference at all 😭

@cavyherd Oh that’s rough, when the work isn’t obvious! I applaud your four cubic yards!! 🎉

@hollie

People wonder when I get twitchy when they try to give me things. "Because I'll have to put it somewhere!?"

Conversely, when I give a thing away: "What do you want for it?" "The space it was occupying, thank you!" 😂

@cavyherd @hollie So very much this. I often thank people for giving me the space back.

I offloaded an old fridge the other day and got so much space, plus a bonus $50!

@aly @hollie

Omg, SO much space! That's like two cubic yards!
