These fascistic, eugenicist billionaires have stated clearly that the human species would only benefit from the demise of all of us "useless feeders".

"Even if billions perish in the coming [...] catastrophe..we shouldn’t be too concerned".

They said [climate], but also read [forever wars, poverty, pandemics].

Understanding "longtermism": Why this suddenly influential philosophy is so toxic - Salon.com

Whatever we may "owe the future," it isn't a bizarre and dangerous ideology fueled by eugenics and capitalism

@DrALJONES they missed the point where the "useless feeders" are the ones growing, packing and delivering their food? Or do they think it comes out of a replicator?

@craignicol

They miss the point that no human beings are "useless". Only fascists and psychopaths think that.

@DrALJONES agreed, that's a whole other conversation I had today about why means testing any benefits is immoral and usually more expensive.

@craignicol

Sorry, not sure I understand. Afaik, means testing is about not allocating public money to those who have plenty of their own. (in Australia at least).

@DrALJONES the way it's practiced in UK (and I believe USA) is very much talking about "the undeserving poor" so making people jump through hoops to show they're looking for work, and adding a lot of red tape to prove they deserve food and a roof over their head, because Murdoch printed a story once that someone on benefits made more than the queen, and everyone believed it.

And of course, they're the ones that mean we can't afford anything, but the billionaires in the Panama papers 🤔

@craignicol

Yes, the poor in Australia are also treated cruelly. "Robodebt" exemplified government sadism.

@DrALJONES The specific beliefs may vary a bit, but the quintessential core belief is:

"It is evil and bad to care about currently living human beings and their concerns (with the obvious exception of the Epstein class)."
