In the fall I added a little patch of tulip bulbs to the tall garden boxes in the greenhouse area for earlier season color. They look nice this year. Tulips are often a mixed bag for me when trying to incorporate them in planting areas that get summer water so TBD on if they'll be successful in the future

Some very nice tubs of tulips up my street get trundled in and out of view with the seasons. I’d assumed it was for watering or maybe for easy replanting. Dont know about voles!

@aosmith16 Oh such fun and a beautiful peaceful place. Your greenhouse is terrific!
@cobalt123
I've been enjoying this greenhouse so much!
@aosmith16 in a past life we bought a garden with a house included. The prior owners we a brace of retired lawyers. They treated tulips as annuals and planted over $500 a year. It was magnificent. I did not attempt to match them.
@reformSchool
I've heard of this approach (including from a tulip bulb company, haha), but it definitely strikes me as an expensive way to do things!
@[email protected] The very idea of tulips bred for one year disturbs me, no matter how lovely the blooms. "Darwin" tulips for me, please! But I suspect our winters aren't cold enough here in Porto anyway, given how few I see in local yards. An odd idea for a born New Englander! I shall have to make do bloomscrolling
