LOL @ Starfleet Academy. Oh, wow... looks like the only people watching this crappy show were just the YouTube reviewers. To me, there hasn't been a worthwhile Star Trek series since 2005. Complete nonsense. 😩

Starfleet Academy's TRUE Viewership is SHOCKING

@dfx_tech While, e.g.,, Enterprise, was a good show, it was also a product of its time, as well as of network TV/ad business restrictions. E.g., black actors could play major roles, but not really starring roles. E.g. LGBTQ was a complete non-starter (and Paramount is apparently heading that way again). Hetero thirstiness was the main way in which it explored new frontiers over previous shows. While haven’t loved everything in Discovery and Starfleet Academy, they were solid shows with serious Trek stories.

@arrakeen_urbanite You say, black actors couldn‘t play starring roles, yet I am still a huge fan of Avery Brooks with his brilliant role of Sisko back in DS9.

I also have nothing against gay characters in StarTrek. My issue lies with stupid, irrational ones, who are driven by immature emotions and poor storytelling. I want grown-ups like Picard, Sisko and Janeway, and not little teenagers, constantly crying about stuff. LGBT..(whatever) is often only used as a vessel to justify bad plotlines.

@dfx_tech Fair point on Sisko. I was completely wrong on that. I faded somewhere on DS 9 after the first few seasons. I lost interest when they got the mini-warship for through-the-wormhole adventurism. I know that many people enjoyed it through to the end though.
@arrakeen_urbanite And no, I don‘t count Discovery or Starfleet Academy as being StarTrek at all. I am hoping and looking for the future. The entire media industry must learn from these horrible mistakes.
