also i spent SO long on that image description, which was worth it, but im still annoyed at how that description has no real metadata retention that i'm going to finally at least do a thing with my ebook library where i can just SAVE the dang text for the cover description for easy use later.
maybe one day i or someone else far more skilled than me can figure out how to implement image descriptions in a way that actually makes sense and reduces duplicative work, and therefore make the world incrementally just a little better
@emaytch
I was thinking the other day that having some sort of persistent tag system for images would be nice. Many photo gallery apps have one, but it only works with itself, and only that instance of itself. So I end up with tags in the filename.
@Tourma @emaytch I feel like there's a description tag in at least some image formats that's probably just not used. I recall seeing it when exporting images in GIMP and it has the default comment "created with GIMP" or something.
@jwdt @Tourma yeah these tools definitely exist depending on the image format, but hardly anyone uses or references them, so they seem effectively useless

@jwdt
And it would have to be searchable to be worth anything to me.

It feels similar, but I was thinking the other day that having some sort of persistent tag system for images would be nice. Many photo gallery apps have one, but it only works with itself, and only that instance of itself. So I end up with tags in the filename.
