Feeling sad an frustrated at how much a combination of corporatization, scammers and AI have fucked up indie art sellers. There don't seem to be any scalable alternatives to what Etsy started out as. Every time artists move to some platform or method of online connection it gets flooded with spammy drop-shippers and the like.
Actually it isnt just an online problem, I also see vendors selling the exact same mass-produced stuff at conventions and street fairs and stuff.
@amorphophalex it's always been a problem-- i remember reading about how awful the fashion industry is about this, and how a lot of haute couture culture and brading is to try and mitigate it-- but it definitely feels like its only accelerated to even more untenable levels in the past couple of decades as the internet has become more and more our primary way of interfacing with the world
