📰 Buncombe County (includes Asheville) has closed on the purchase of the 342-acre Deaverview Mountain property, slated to become a new public park.

🌳 The acquisition will allow the to preservation of this "significant natural asset", in partnership with the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy.

⛰️ The property includes a 3,118-foot mountain peak, open space with 180-degree views of the French Broad River Valley, 16 headwater streams, and potential for outdoor education.

🦎 Note: Undisturbed headwater streams in the Appalachians support many endangered and threatened species.
