Today is #DID day, which is short for Digital Independance Day!

It means 'bye big tech, hello fair!' Time to switch. 😊

As for Lokjo, it's a small european replacement for googlemaps in 5 languages. You can search categories* and it'll show you ALL locations at once, except corporations/chains, they get a grey dot with no info.

Give it a try, you might just like it.

Home — Digital Independence Day

An jedem ersten Sonntag im Monat veranstalten wir den Digital Independence Day. Wir holen uns unser freies digitales Leben zurück und wechseln zu demokratiefreundlichen digitalen Alternativen.

@lokjo
Why not OpenStreetMap?

@HernanLG

OSM is meant for data collecting, for the volunteers who update the map.

Lokjo is meant for regular people who like a modern design and have functions like searching categories, sharing places or locations, different language settings and other things.

@lokjo
Interesting. I was genuinely curious. I don't consider myself tech-savy but I've been using OsmAnd+ for years and I've never missed any features (and most important, I always get where I'm supposed to be). I do think it's weird that we all are trying to end Google's monopoly, but we can't agree to work on a single project

@HernanLG

Ah but we are using OSM data too, but OsmAnd is focussed on beying an app and on routing, and we are focussed on finding local shops.

I think it's a good thing to have different projects, it makes the market more free, and competition makes the market open and returns more quality.
