Well, I moved instances here’s my first post. May as well introduce myself.

Who the hell am I? Good question. You know when you have to introduce yourself at work. They go around the table and everyone has something reasonable to say about themselves? I usually freeze and have no idea what to say. I ramble and dissociate and eventually the hell is over and we’re on to the next victim.

I like to sing in general, often in choirs (popular and classical). I like talking to a captive (not necessarily captivated) audience like at tech talks. Can you imagine, people would actually pay to hear me ramble. Poor fools. I have ADHD so I often digress as is already quite evident.

I like to collect retrocomputers esp 8 bits. I don’t know why, I don’t use them. They’re my dollhouse. Except a little less creepy but a bit nerdier.

I really like programming languages, but in a very amateur way. Need someone to write hello world in a ton of languages? That’s me. Need someone who can remember the actual syntax and keywords without constantly looking them up? Sorry, better move on.

I’m concerned about our future with AI. How will it change the economy, how we learn, how easy we are to manipulate, the balance of power in the hands of a few big tech companies, how will people learn when thinking is outsourced. It’s frightening.

I’m jaded, big tech and the government do not have our best interests at heart. I’m on a mission to move off of Big Tech, little things like not using gmail, Codeberg instead of GitHub for code repository, not using Amazon even if it costs more, you get the idea. They have way too much power and treat employees and customers like shit.

Ok well, that was depressing. Let’s move on to the next person ❤️

@ellyxir bloody brilliant! I want to be on team Ellyse.

I loved your explorations of learning 6502 assembly on the Atari 8-bit.

@fluidlogic Thanks! You might remember it better than me! I ordered a C64 Ultimate but its waiting for me at my parent's home an ocean away. So, we'll have to wait a little bit before restarting our 6502 adventures!

@ellyxir oh, superb! I'm refurbishing a late model C64C - my first time ever getting hands on with one, I think.

I was a total Atari snob back in the day but we're all friends now!

@fluidlogic you were one of those people that called my c64 trash-64 weren't you!

@ellyxir no, definitely not!

By "back in the day" I mean the 1980s, when I was a teenager who didn't know any better!
