this thing is gonna look so good with my fursona on it's screen
even thought it was sold under the german brand "Nordmende" this TV and pretty much all it's components seem to have been made by Hitachi. It's also got a weird mix of technologies inside it.
A lot of the case and the PCB look surprisingly modern, like something from the 80s, but it still uses a selenium rectifier for the mains and has absolutely no integrated circuits. All the transistors are in metal cans, a fair share of them are germanium, something I'd expect to see in something made in the 60s.
All the electronics are on a single PCB, including the flyback transformer. Everything is connected using plugs and the PCB just slides out on rails. The thing almost seems like it was made to look like a retro throwback, with the glass (actually acrylic) in front of the tube and wood grain, but then the components on the inside make it seem like it's actually a very early transistorized TV.

actually, it's probably not a selenium rectifier. it looks like one, but it doesn't have enough sections for 230V. so it's probably just an early silicon rectifier? or maybe germanium?
slowly coming back together. this thing was unbelievably filthy and 90% dead spiders by weight.
aside from one broken potentiometer for the vertical linearity it seems to be in decent condition otherwise. I've replaced the pot with a fixed value resistor that should be kinda in the ballpark cause I don't have a fitting replacement.
ok, moment of truth. this thing can run from a battery pack of 12-17V, so I can test it without getting any mains involved, which is nice.

deflection vertical deflection seems to be way off, but it's making an image!
not sure if something is fucked or everything is just way out of adjustment. time to twiddle some pots
wheee, pots have been successfully twiddled. B+ and the bias on the vertical deflection output transistor was way too low.
whoooo, it fucking receives! image centering is slightly off so I might have to fuck with the centering rings a little but aside from that it looks good. still need to replace that vertical linearity pot through before I do that I think.
also, that smoked glass in front of the tube look sooooo cool
